The Name’s Kushina
I don’t usually judge things by its cover, but when it comes to this blog, I’m insanely picky. The old theme bothered me so much I avoided blogging for two months until I had time to create a new one. I had already completed the design of this new theme back in July, but it took three months to kick into development mode, and one month worth of redesigning via code for it to pass my own approval.
The theme has been named Kushina to commemorate the ending of 15 years of Naruto, but it wasn’t named until it was already on the server yesterday when I realized the red-orange color was bothering me. I’ve always liked Kushina’s violet red.
I am able to view this in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari on a Mac. If you’re using Windows, please do leave a comment if there are any visual issues. I already know that I will have to check it in IE if I can get my hands on an emulator soon. The theme should also be responsive for all devices and breakpoints. There is definitely cooler stuff I can add later, but I’ve completed what I intended for this theme to start with. It took most of my weekend, but now that my blog looks a little nicer, I also made some changes and some short-term goals for its success.
- Blog more about other topics. Another reason I had trouble blogging was that I was limiting myself to talking about games. I thought doing so would make me happier because life events were making me annoyed, but it’s probably better to go with the flow of things rather than set defined rules. I now have two post types for this blog: personal, game thoughts. I’ll only talk about games in the latter.
- Deleted some of my old entries that felt forced. What’s the point of writing just for the sake of having something written?
- Read my friends’ blogs more often. I used to get comments and leave comments. I do realize a lot of my old buddies don’t blog much anymore, but I went through Twitter & Feedly and added anybody I could dig up into the links page. I shall try to visit all those blogs in the new few days.
Here’s to happier blogging!
