A Day in the Life: January 2016

I really like Georgie’s new format for A Day in the Life in 2016, here goes! It’s been three months since I did one so this should be fun! I wrote this post on Saturday, January 16th and am just publishing it now after some time to proofread.

My day in five words or less.
Lots of silly modeling.

Just before writing this, I was…
at the Winter Flea + Smorgasburg in Brooklyn, New York, which is a combination of flea market and market for food indoors. That’s great for winter, though this winter has not been cold so far and we haven’t even seen snow. I went with a few friends who are in the city in January because we were all bored. I had just bought a 50mm lens for my DSLR so I tested it out on them while we tried on the very expensive vintage clothing at the market! I bought a pair of sunglasses with rectangular frames.

Rectangular frames! But more importantly how lovely the background blur is with this camera!

I ate ____ today.
A Western omelette. But my friends tried the Ramen Burger so here’s a photo of that. It’s famous in New York, but from what I heard it’s just okay in taste, which is a shame! I still want to try it though.

A burger with ramen instead of buns.

TIL (Today I Learned)
How to change the lens on my DSLR hehehehehe. And how far away to stand to take photos with my new lens because it cannot zoom!

At 12:34pm today, I was…
At lunch with my friends before going to the market. We went to a diner and I just have to iterate how amazing diner food is. Probably better than most food. Omelettes, burritos, home fries, I’m hungry again!

One thing I could have done better today:
Prayed for my friend more thoughtfully. My friend is going to study abroad next week and I wanted to send him blessings before he left, but I’m still working on my skills for blessing someone on the spot. This will be important if I want to become a missionary.

I will start tomorrow by…
Attending church. I’ve been very bad at consistency last autumn and haven’t attended a church service at my church since before Christmas.

That ramen burger looks amazing. I might have to see if I can make something like that!

I really like those rectangular framed sunglasses, and the background does make the photo stand out. Ramen burger? Never heard of that. It looks pretty interesting to try. I send good vibes and blessings to your friend. I do hope everything goes well for him. I have not been to church is so long. I wish you well in all your endevors. 🙂 Blessings and light to you!

Ugh. I’m jealous. I miss New York. Excuse me while I cry.

Ooo, the Winter Flea + Smorgasburg sounds fun! I’ve always wanted to go to a flea market and see what goodies I can find there!

Oh nice! Did you get the 50mm f/1.8? That was my first prime lens, and it’s a good one 😀 The flea market sounds like a fun place to go to! I like your new sunglasses too. I’m a fan of rectangular frames and always get them for my prescription glasses. I’ve heard of the ramen burger, though I’m not sure if I’d enjoy it? As much as I love ramen, I don’t want it as a bun, haha.

The Winter Flea sounds like so much fun! I wish we had something like this around here since we just have some farmer markets (though I still enjoy those, too!).

Oh my goodness, it amazes me the food they think up! If I’m being honest, that ramen burger does not sound appetizing at all, but I love the idea that there is one out there, haha. Diners are awesome – they have all my favorite foods: fries and shakes! 😛

I really want to try a ramen burger some time. I don’t like normal burgers so maybe I will like ramen burgers because I love, love, love noodles.

Prime lenses have their advantages, but you do have to get used to how far or close you have to stand. 50mm primes are funny, you tend to have to step back quite a lot. You get used to it, though, hehe. 🙂

Hope you managed to get yourself to a church service! 🙂
